Every Sunday from May through September, Parc Jean-Drapeau hosts Piknic Électronik — an outdoor electronic music party that's become a Montreal institution.

The Setup

Open-air party on an island in the St. Lawrence River. One main stage, quality electronic music acts, and a few thousand people dancing in the sun.

Starts mid-afternoon, runs until 9:30 PM. It's a day party, not a rager — but the energy is real.

Electronic music across the spectrum — house, techno, minimal, sometimes bigger names. The booking is consistently good. You don't need to know the DJs to enjoy it.

Pro Tips

Go earlier if you want shade. The good spots under trees fill up. Bring a blanket. You can rent chairs but bringing something to sit on is better. Don't overdo the drinks. Day drinking in the sun will catch up to you fast. Check the weather. They run rain or shine but a rainy Piknic is a different experience. Last metro matters. If you stay late, know when the last train runs.
